Bare Cove Park Pylons

This photo was taken at Bare Cove Park in Hingham, MA; just a block away from the office where I work. I've actually scouted this area and it's phenomenal potential for some really awesome dusk and sunset shots over the past 6 months but decided to hold off from shooting anything until I got the 10-22mm Canon wide-angle lens that I've been salivating over for the past year.

So, over this recent tax-free weekend, I finally got the 10-22mm lens from Best Buy. I'm still holding off from a proper shoot at Bare Cove until I've acquired a polarizer for the wide-angle lens (didn't even occur to stupid me that my 58mm pola wouldn't fit on the wider lens) and a couple of graduated ND filters. But then again, having finally laid my hands on the 10-22mm, I just had to run out to Bare Cove one clear afternoon just to test it out.

It was like an itch that I just had to scratch. So I had a little bit of fun with it for one afternoon.

I did realize my relative inexperience when it comes to the lens however, and this is pretty much just one of the passable shots that I took that afternoon. I wish I'd stayed a little longer but I decided I'd do that lengthy shoot once I have all the gear that I need.

That and the mosquitoes around that park were just so effin' HUGE. I was not prepared for those bloodsuckers. As soon as the sun dipped beneath the horizon, the bugs just started feasting on me and my buddy's legs.

Yes, we were wearing shorts and yes, the mosquitoes pretty much chased us out of the park.

Note to self: Pants and bug-repellant.
